My PhD at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Matteo Zallio, is about productive friction: how people feel and connect in shared spaces that change over time, like urban third places.
I combine computer vision with ethnography, including a 12-city café study and a proxemics tool I built in Python.
Current study: Glory Days
Glory Days in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, added a street structure to its sidewalk in summer 2026. I'm studying how that changes the way people use the space. Findings are being prepared for publication.
